土曜の夜だから混んでいるだろうと思いつつ、行ってみた。Bowleroでのボウリングは、レーンが星間色に照らされ、すべての曲のミュージックビデオがピンの真上にあるという、今までに経験したことのないボウリングです。一度Bowleroのボウリングを体験したら、もう普通のおじさんボウリングには戻れませんでした。

1時間待ちとのことでした。バーで食事とお酒を楽しむつもりだったので、問題ない。バーの後ろにある大きなスクリーンでマリナーズとライバルのオークランド・アスレチックスの試合を見ながら注文をした。私たちの番号が呼ばれ、ゲームが始まるまで、まだ45分ほどしか経っていない。ボーリングは、男も女も本領を発揮する。レーンサイドのフード＆ドリンクサービスでスライダーとガーリックフライを注文しながら、競争は白熱し、お互いを非難しあって盛り上がった。

3ゲーム終了後、私は自分の分身であるジャック・ザ・ガッターとして、最終スコア376でトップに立った。勝利の美酒とスライダーの味は格別だった。靴を返した後、ゲームセンターにある不思議なゲームに目を奪われた。プレイステーション4のコントローラーやiPod nanoなど、高価な景品が用意されたトリッキーなゲームだった。また、カーニバルサイズのぬいぐるみを使った巨大なクローゲームもありました。私たちは、このような豪華な景品に挑戦し、毎回惜しくも入賞を逃していました。
