Locally-owned Miyabi Sushi is a go-spot for authentic Japanese cuisine. Described by a reviewer for The Seattle Times as “a lovely, visually lively space” with “caring, friendly, energetic” servers, the restaurant has long been a favorite of locals. Whether you're craving the freshest sashimi, creative specialty rolls, or a perfectly seared teriyaki dish, it’s a great option for either lunch or dinner, especially if you’re visiting nearby Westfield Southcenter Mall or on your way to or from SEA Airport.
The restaurant pulls off being both elegant and laid-back, so you can go either upscale or casual. Take a date and get omakase (chef’s choice) with craft cocktails, or bring the whole family and order a round of bento boxes (including an adorable kid’s bento that comes in a bullet train tray). The restaurant is owned by executive chef Masaaki Ishikura, his wife, Hisako, and former major league pitcher Masao Kida, a former member of the Seattle Mariners. Their commitment to quality and hospitality shines through in every dish.
知る必要がある:
Fresh Sashimi and Creative Specialty Rolls: The sushi menu is the heart of Miyabi, featuring options like the Miyabi roll, which showcases a colorful array of fresh fish. There’s a clear Pacific Northwest influence as well, with plenty of salmon on the menu, and a Mt. Rainier roll that’s topped with a mini “mountain” composed of crab salad, spicy mayo, and eel sauce.
Japanese Comfort Food: In addition to sushi, Miyabi offers traditional Japanese favorites like tempura, udon noodles, and bento boxes for a well-rounded dining experience. Order a Bento Box for great value (it includes a combo of sushi, an entree such as teriyaki or katsu, a salad, and miso soup.
Full Bar Menu: Choose from a wide selection of wine, beer, spirits, sake, shochu (Japanese distilled alcohol similar to vodka), and craft cocktails. Some standouts include a fizzy Mango Sake Mojito made with mango nigori sake and rum, Lychee Saketini made with gin and lychee, and a Yuzu Drop made of vodka, yuzu juice and triple sec.
Omakase (chef’s choice menu): Take your experience to a whole new level by letting the chef choose for you. This Japanese dining tradition is a wonderful way to be exposed to new flavors and sample the freshest ingredients the restaurant has to offer.
The Vibe:
Miyabi Sushi is warm and welcoming, with long, handcrafted wooden tables in the center flanked by smaller tables along the walls. Given its popularity, it tends to get busy in the evenings, so keep that in mind when visiting.
